Well right now in the great country of Japan, half of the nation is celebrating the holiday of Tanabata. Simply put, people write wishes and hang them from bamboo where they will be shot into space to the stars Vega and Altair and hopefully granted (less ridiculous version).
So given that I recently got a new apartment I thought it would be nice to usher it in with something fun. I’m hoping that there is a nursery here in town that sells bamboo plants so I can buy one and have wishes granted. Although I will have to wait a month so I can catch the second go round that the other half goes by. Until then I will see if I can locate bamboo and keep it alive, also I don’t know what to wish for yet.
Update: So amazingly Lowe’s of all places had bamboo, so I got it and now to wait and hope I can keep it alive for a month. I think it brings some life to our empty apartment.
Hmm…maybe I should go visit my Uncle’s house since he has a small forest of bamboo in his back yard. His house is just awesome that way.
Is this in New Hampshire or here in Baton Rouge?
